Egypt jumped to 95th position in the 2018 Global Innovation Index (GII) issued by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said on Tuesday 10/7/2018.

Egypt ranked no 105 in the 2017 GII, the ministry noted.

Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology has exerted painstaking efforts and took several measures to improve Egypt's GII ranking.

The GII provides detailed metrics about the innovation performance of 126 countries and economies around the world. Its 80 indicators explore a broad vision of innovation, including political environment, education, infrastructure and business sophistication.

The GII is a leading reference for measuring a country’s innovation performance. Now in its 2nd decade, the GII has established itself as a “tool for action” for decision makers, leading to the improvement of innovation metrics, the removal of obstacles to innovation and the shaping of efficient national innovation policy strategies.
