Ladies and gentlemen,

It is a great pleasure to welcome today His Excellency President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, President of the Republic of Yemen as a brother and a dear guest in his second country Egypt. I would like to convey to His Excellency the greeting of the Egyptian people, who hold the true meanings of love and admiration for the Yemeni people; in addition to the strong bonds of brotherhood and love that link the two countries together.

Your visit to Egypt has a significant importance in light of the critical and pivotal stage of the Yemeni crisis as the repercussions of this crisis have been agrevating the enormous challenges facing our Arab region, which threaten our security and stability in an unprecedented way. This requires concerted efforts, cooperation and coordination among our Arab countries in order to prevent the escalating dangers facing us all as well as to change the difficult reality of the brotherly Yemeni people

In this regard, I would like to confirm our firm conviction that Yemen's security and stability is of paramount importance not only to Egypt's national security but also to the security and stability of the entire region. Therefore we completely refuse that Yemen would turn into a platform for non-Arab forces or a threat to the security and stability of sisterly Arab states, or the freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Straight of Bab al-Mandab.

Out of this concept, Egypt has been always asserting its genuine commitment to support stability, integrity of Yemen and the legitimate government under your leadership to overcome the incumbent challenges and seriously face those who want to tamper with this brotherly people. Egypt’s commitment to Yemen emanates from the constants of its foreign policy and the two countries’ deep-rooted relations throughout decades of struggle and cooperation.

Within the framework of Egypt’s support to the efforts which target reaching a political solution to the Yemeni crisis and striking a consensus among all political parties, we welcome the efforts exerted by the UN special envoy in line with the international resolutions and the internationally-agreed terms of reference, mainly the Gulf Initiative, outcome of the National Dialogue and the Security Council’s resolution No.2216.  

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I held with His Excellency Mr. President a fruitful talks session that tackled ways of boosting bilateral relations in all fields, besides the latest developments of the Yemeni crisis and ways of dealing with the incumbent challenges and their security and political consequences. Moreover, we discussed the support that Egypt could provide for pushing mechanisms of the political solution and easing the human burdens that the Yemeni people are suffering.

I am confident that Yemen and its great people can inspire their cultural and historic heritage to overcome their crisis, restore power and move their homeland to a stable and safe future regardless those who have narrow interests and seek to drag Yemen far from the Arab will and identity.

Allow me to reiterate welcome to His Excellency Mr. President Abd Rabbou Mansour Hadi, express and affirm my ceaseless interest in upgrading bonds of the brotherly ties between Yemen and Egypt, which have remained a strong defense against the growing  hazards and a firm base to take off together to a better future with Allah’s Support.
