First Undersecretary of the National Press Authority Abdullah Hassan said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s meeting with his US counterpart Donald Trump in New York last week revealed the US policy towards Egypt in the coming stage.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, also reflects the US keenness to foster cooperation with Egypt, which amounts to the level of strategic partnership, he said.

In his editorial on Al Ahram Al Arabi magazine, Hassan said, “Finally, US President Donald Trump admitted Egypt’s success under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in combating terrorism.”

Trump also admitted that Cairo has taken successful steps in the economic reform path, Hassan said, noting that the US leader has asserted Washington’s desire to boost trade exchange and increase investments between the two sides.

At the same time, President Sisi affirmed during the meeting Egypt’s keenness to bolster the distinguished partnership relations with the US, he noted.

Sisi underscored the importance of such partnership to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East, he added.
