SIS: Egyptian authorities categorically denies reports on arrest or forced disappearance of lawmaker
Friday، 19 October 2018 - 10:01 AM

The Egyptian authorities concerned have categorically denied on Thursday claims saying that former member of parliament and founder of Al-Adl Party Mustafa el-Nagar has been arrested, asserting that rumors on his forced disappearance are "bare of truth", the State Information Service said in a press statement.
The SIS said its statement comes in response to some local and foreign media reports along with rumors about the arrest and forced disappearance of the former lawmaker.
SIS added that Nagar is a fugitive from authorities as he was convicted by a court that ordered to imprison him for three years over charges of insulting judiciary.
Earlier, Appeals Court upheld a three-year prison sentence for el-Nagar when he didn’t show up during the court’s session.
According to the Egyptian law, the convict must hand himself to the authorities before the Appeals Court’s session by one day at least in order to accept his appeal.
Nagar’s wife, Shaymaa Afifi, said he went missing on Sept. 27 while traveling to the southern city of Aswan.
