Egypt and China…Partnership for Development

Egypt and China have a huge civilization that provides them with a suitable base to achieve development for a better life for the citizens of  both countries… with these words; Chinese Vice-President Wang Qishan expressed his vision for the future of the relations between the two countries during his official visit to Egypt at the head of a high-level delegation.

A tribute to the Egyptian achievement in development

Chinese Vice-President Wang Qishan hailed Egypt's recent achievements in the economic reform and stability under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, as well as the completion of several major national projects in a short period of time.

Qishan indicated that the Chinese companies' work in Egypt has contributed in creating many job opportunities, referring to the effective participation of Chinese companies in the new administrative capital. Chinese companies operating in Egypt benefit from re-exporting products to Europe and various regions of the world, he said.

Chinese vice-president praised the great investments of the Egyptian government, especially in the electricity field, which has solved the problems that Egypt has been suffering over the past years, stressing that his country's interest in the file of trade deficit and taking important steps in this regard by encouraging the importation of Egyptian products, where he presented the latest developments of Chinese economy and the measures being implemented to realize the Chinese dream through economic and social development.

Qishan also welcomed Egypt's participation as an honorary guest in the first China Import and Export Fair  to be held in Shanghai during the period  November 5-10, 2018. That will be an opportunity to introduce Egyptian goods to Chinese importers.

Strengthening cooperation between China and "Africa"

During the meeting with Chinese Vice-President, President Sisi appreciated the recent results achieved at the “China-Africa Cooperation Forum” summit, stressing that it will serve African and Chinese interests in light of the two sides' interest in exploiting their opportunities to develop common cooperation relations.

President Sisi stressed Egypt’s keenness to strengthen and activate mechanisms of joint cooperation between China and Africa during the Egyptian presidency of the African Union in 2019.

Qishan said that the continuous high-level coordination aims at developing relations with the African continent, especially with the launch of the Chinese "Belt and Road" initiative to promote cooperation and integration between Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and strengthen the link among these countries to push the trade exchange among them.

Chinese vice-president reiterated his country's invitation to President Sisi’s participation in the "Belt and Road" initiative summit that will take place in April, 2019, pointing out that the "Belt and Road" initiative is receiving the attention of a large number of countries, expressing his country's keenness to develop cooperation with Egypt in the development plan of Suez Canal axis.

Signing new agreements … More distinguished partnership between the two countries

Following an extensive meeting between Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Chinese Vice-President, the two sides witnessed the signing ceremony of three agreements and memorandum of understanding in the fields of agriculture, archeology and education.

The agreements included the signing of a "Grant to finance and implement the project of developing remote learning system for the first and second phases and the implementation of phase III" at a cost of $ 11.5 million.

The agreement signed in the agricultural sector is the “2019 - 2021 Executive Programme for Agricultural Cooperation” to boost agricultural investment, and capacity building in that sector.

The agreement signed in the archaeological sector consists of cooperation antiquities preservation, research projects, capacity building, and the exchange of temporary exhibitions and missions.

A memorandum of understanding signed in the education sector covers a Chinese grant to fund the remote learning project which will be executed over three phases. Besides, donating 1,000 books to the South Valley University and building Confucius Hall on its campus.

Chinese Vice-President… Egypt's tourism ambassador abroad

During the meeting between the Prime Minister and a number of ministers with Chinese Vice-President, Tourism Minister Rania Al-Mashat expressed Egypt's keenness to cooperate with China in the field of transport and aviation, aiming to increase a number of Chinese tourism delegations to Egypt.

In this regard, Al-Mashat called for increase air traffic to Egypt from different Chinese cities, in addition to cooperation with the Chinese Cultural Center for the exchange of students and tour guides.

For his part, Qishan hailed Egyptian civilization and archaeological sites he visited in Luxor and Cairo. I would be Egypt's tourism ambassador abroad, he said.
