Your Excellency, President Omar Al-Bashir,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

At the outset, I wish to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to the warm welcome and hospitality we received in our second country; the brotherly Sudan during this visit, which reflects the depth and strength of our relations between our countries. I express also my high pleasure over the Egyptian- Sudanese relations’ tangible momentum, crowned today by the meetings of the second session of the joint presidential committee.

Brothers and Sisters,

The unshakable fact shows that days and years increased strength of our relations and the capability to confront any foreign intervention or transitional problems. They reflect also the two peoples’ aspiration and ambition to achieve more integration amidst the two countries’ human and national resources.

The recent six months witnessed holding many meetings and joint committees on all levels including that of the quadrilateral and political consultation mechanism in addition to the consular and Nile water committees.

I am confident that the coming period will witness more constructive common action to bring our people’s ambitions and expectations to reality.

Your Excellency Mr. President,

The past period witnessed implementation of the power linkage project, which is due to shift our cooperation to a new phase based on carrying out the joint strategic projects that enhance opportunities of trade exchange and investment. Khartoum had hosted, this month, the first meetings of the railway linkage committee. This is a strategic project that shall facilitate transport of individuals and commodities.

Today, we signed 12 memorandums of understanding and executive programmes to cement our cooperation in all fields. These steps will open wider horizons to elevate our bilateral relations.       

Our meeting today comes in a very signification timing as it delivers a message of hope and optimism for the future of our countries’ integration, meantime our area is passing through developments that end decades of conflicts and disputes that led to murder of thousands of people and caused severe destruction to the people’s resources. We pray to Allah to render our efforts to establish peace, security and welfare,     a success.

I don’t miss the opportunity to express Egypt’s full support to your constructive efforts to realize the regional security and stability as manifested in signature of our brothers in the South to a settlement agreement. I am confident that our efforts will go on to realize the regional security and expand to realize security in Red Sea area in coordination with the riparian Arab and African states.

Years pass in a way that makes us assured that our countries’ unity of destiny will remain a deep-rooted and coherent fact, which looks like a tree, whose roots are deeply going in the earth, flourishing with every step we take to consolidate our common action. I am sure that the next convocation of the presidential higher committee in your second country; Egypt will witness more rapprochement for the welfare of our peoples.
