The Armed Forces announced on Thursday that 18 very dangerous Takfiri elements were killed during Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018.
During swoops recently conducted as part of the operation, 25 four-wheel vehicles were destroyed, the Armed Forces general command said in its 29th statement on the progress achieved in the counter-terrorist efforts.
The General Command of the Armed Forces said 129 suspects and wanted elements were rounded up and all needed legal measures were taken against them.
The Armed Forces defused 141 explosive devices and destroyed 147 hideouts, storage places and tunnels in northern and central Sinai.
The forces also seized amounts of weapons and narcotic tablets as well as metal detection equipment, eavesdropping equipment and laptops.
Within the framework of the Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018, the forces foiled illegal immigration attempts by 1,383 people of various nationalities.
One personnel of the Armed Forces was killed during a storming operation, the statement said.
The Armed Forces and police are committed to continue to fight terrorists in order to maintain security and stability of their homeland, it read.
