Sisi visits Austrian National Council

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday17/12/2018 paid a visit to the National Council of the Austrian parliament.

Sisi was welcomed by the council's President Wolfgang Sobotka, who hailed the distinguished relations binding the Egyptian and Austrian peoples, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement. 

Sobotka also expressed Austria's full support to Egyptian efforts to achieve comprehensive development, affirming keenness on boosting the two countries' partnership at all levels, especially the parliamentary field.


In turn, President Sisi expressed hope that the visit would offer a starting point for the development of the relations between Egypt and Austria at various levels.


The meeting discussed ways of activating the frameworks of joint cooperation and promoting the bilateral relations in the coming period, especially in the fields of tourism and culture.


It also tackled the latest developments in the Middle East and Egypt's comprehensive vision on combating terrorism, extremist ideology and illegal immigration.


Sobotka hailed the Egyptian efforts in this regard, describing the country as a cornerstone in bringing stability to the region.
