Sisi meets with Merkel in Munich

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed keenness on enhancing relations between Cairo and Berlin during the coming period in light of Egypt's presidency of the African Union (AU) and Germany's current membership in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
During his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, President Sisi stressed importance of the visit recently paid by the German economy and energy minister to Cairo.
For her part, Merkel said her country looks forward to cementing relations with Egypt, which represents the pillar of security and stability in the Middle East and Africa, said presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.
The meeting took up cooperation with German giants such as Mercedes-Benz which decided to resume its activities in Egypt.
Both sides also probed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, such as the Libyan and Syrian crises, Rady reiterated.
