Sisi, Abbas tackle two-state solution, Palestinian state on 1967 borders

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi underscored on Sunday 24/2/2019 Egypt's steadfast stance regarding the Palestinian issue, the two-state solution and the establishment of the Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

During a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas here on the sidelines of the 1st Arab League-European Union Summit, they agreed to continue consultations and intensive coordination between them regarding various issues of mutual concern particularly as regards unifying the Palestinian ranks.

President Sisi noted Egypt's continuing strenuous efforts to serve the Palestinian cause in terms of close coordination with the Palestinian side to crystallize a strategic vision to find ways to move positively toward creating a favorable atmosphere for stability on the ground, Presidency Spokesman Bassam Radi said.

The Palestinian president expressed appreciation for Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinians and their struggle for independence, praising its historical role in this respect with the aim of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the long-running Palestinian-Israeli conflict, he added.
