CAPMAS: Females in Egypt reached 47.5 mln until Jan. 2019

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said the number of females in Egypt reached 47.5 million until January 2019.
In a statement on Thursday 07/03/2019 on the occasion of the International Women's Day which is celebrated on March 8 every year, CAPMAS said females represent 20.9 percent of Egypt's labor force, while males represented 79.1 percent.
CAPMAS added that the unemployment rate of females stood at 21.4 percent against 6.8 percent of males.
It added that women have managed to secure 8 ministerial portfolios, representing 24 percent of the Egyptian Cabinet.
Meanwhile, the number of female judges reached 66 out of a total of 9,694 judges.
Females accounted for 24.8 percent of those working in the diplomatic corps, 18 percent of national newspapers' chief editors, 12.5 percent of national newspapers' boards and 7.7 percent of members of the National Press Authority.
