President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Friday's evening attended a dinner banquet hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in the Chinese capital, Beijing.
The event was held in honor of world leaders participating in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRFIC), Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
President Sisi held talks on the sidelines of the banquet with a number of heads of states, including Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and President of the Swiss Confederation Ueli Maurer, the spokesman added.
The talks focused on means of fostering bilateral relations among Egypt, Portugal and Switzerland, especially in light of mega national projects carried out by the country, the spokesman noted.
They also touched on a number of regional files in support of development efforts in the southern Mediterranean and African countries, which in turn could contribute to addressing the main roots of the scourge of terrorism and curbing illegal immigration, and helping restore regional stability and security, the spokesman said.
