President Abdel Fattah El Sisi approved the establishment of an authority for unified drug procurement, medical supply and medical technology management along with the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Authority.

The new bodies are alternatives to the General Authority for Pharmaceutical Research and Control and the National Authority for Research and Control of Biopharmaceuticals.
