President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has underscored the important role played by supreme constitutional courts to provide judicial protection for citizens.

He reiterated that such protection is guaranteed under the constitutional legitimacy to strike a balance between rights and freedoms of citizens and help public authorities carry out their duties.

Sisi received heads of constitutional and supreme courts in an event held to mark the golden jubilee of the constitutional jurisdiction in Egypt.

Sisi emphasized the need to raise popular awareness about the role of law and judicial institutions to enable countries to confront various challenges, including terrorism and extremism.

Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said Sisi's meeting with the heads and representatives of the courts tackled some important issues, particularly the roles of these institutions to preserve sovereignty of states.

The attendees, meanwhile, stressed that Egypt stands as a model for respecting the rule of law and judicial independence.
