Health Ministry: 1st coronavirus of foreigner confirmed in Egypt

The Health Ministry and the World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday 14/02/2020 announced that the first coronavirus case of a foreigner was confirmed in Egypt.

In a joint statement, Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Mogahed said that the case tested positive for the virus after he was underwent the laboratory tests.

He added that the ministry informed the World Health Organization and has taken all necessary preventive measures, noting that the reported case was taken to hospital to be quarantined for 14 days.

Mogahed asserted that the confirmed case is in good health condition.

He went on to say that all those who were in close contact with the case have tested negative for the virus, affirming that they were separated in their residences as a precautionary measure for 14 days.

In this regard, WHO representative in Egypt John Jabbour lauded the rapid response of the Egyptian government in dealing with the confirmed case.
