In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate and the Most Merciful
Mr. Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,
Ladies and Gentlemen Heads of State and Government,
Allow me at the outset to extend my deep thanks and sincere appreciation to the United Kingdom for its initiative to call for this important summit that is convened at a highly critical time in view of the outbreak of coronavirus that has asserted, leaving no room to doubts, the urgent need for the whole world to unite together, close ranks and act promptly without delay so as to curb the spread of the disease and find effective vaccines that have to be available to all on an equal footing and in a just manner especially in view of the fact that the protection of humanity against such Pandemics is the responsibility of the world as a whole.
Meanwhile, it is incumbent upon all of us not to allow the COVID-19 pandemic to take the international community’s attention away from other infectious diseases that the world has previously sought to prevent from spreading. Concomitantly, it is equally important to close ranks and exert joint efforts so as to provide routine vaccines and resume immunization campaigns against vaccine-preventable fatal diseases.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Egypt is attentively following up on the ongoing experiments to find a vaccine against the coronavirus as well as the scientific cooperation witnessed in this vein through Egyptian scientific research entities. Since the beginning of this crisis, Egypt has been so keen to give a hand and provide due assistance to a number of friendly countries worldwide to alleviate the impact of the pandemic as a vivid embodiment of global solidarity.
