Sisi orders ensuring optimum use roads, corridors nationwide

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed officials on Saturday 27/06/2020 to provide road users with all needed services while ensuring optimum use all roads and corridors in line with the state's urbanization strategy.

The President made his directives during a meeting with Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority (AFEA) Maj. Gen. Ihab El-Far and Board Chairman of the National Roads Company Maj. Gen. Magdy Anwar.

Director of AFEA Consulting Office Maj. Gen. Khaled el Bakry and the director of road design at the Military Engineering Department were also in attendance.

The meeting took up the authority's efforts in a range of relevant projects under-construction nationwide, especially the new road networks and corridors in Cairo, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

It also addressed the construction and architectural studies for developing state-owned lands.

Sisi was briefed on the implementation status of several road projects in Cairo, especially the projects underway in Naser City, Heliopolis Gesr El Suez district, which helped ease traffic congestion, reduce fuel consumption and cut pollution rates in these areas.

He was also posted on the latest progress in several other projects to develop the eastern entrance to Cairo through Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road, Gesr El Suez district as well as the areas surrounding Ain Sham University and Ramsis Square.

The meeting also tackled a study proposed for developing Lake Manzalah for investment and tourism purposes, making use of its unique location in the midst of several governorates and its exquisite outlook on the Mediterranean, the spokesman added.

Moreover, Sisi followed up the latest progress a major tourism project in El Galala city, which is envisioned to be a new tourist destination for Egyptians and foreigners alike.

Sisi orders the bodies concerned to involve the private sector in proposing new ideas for achieving urban harmony in the new outstandingly located city.
