The Naval Forces
The upgrade plans entailed supplying the Naval Forces for the first time ever with two Mistral-class helicopter carriers, Anwar el Sadat and Gamal Abdel Nasser, making Egypt the first country in the Middle East and North Africa region to own that kind of carriers as well military transport aircraft like CASA, Antonov and Ilyushin.
Also, the Naval Forces have been equipped with state-of-the-art high combat units after signing a deal to get four German-made Type 209/1400 submarines, becoming one of the earliest countries to own such kind of submarines which are manufactured by the German company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems in Kiel city.
The acquisition of the German submarine represents a technological leap towards supporting the combat efficiency of the Armed Forces in protecting the country’s national security, achieving the naval security along the maritime borders as well as preserving the economic interests in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, in light of threats facing Egypt.
The Armed Forces launched the first Gowind 2500 corvette of the El Fateh-class which was manufactured by the French company Naval Group. The corvette is one of 4 set to be launched by Egypt upon a deal signed with France under which Alexandria Shipyard would build three other Gowind corvettes.
The delivery of the corvettes underscores the political leadership’s efforts towards enhancing the bilateral relations, partnership and cooperation with France in various domains. Also, Egypt has recently received the European multi-purpose frigate FREMM.
As a part of wider efforts to bolster military relations between the armed forces of Egypt and South Korea and to boost mutual cooperation in all fields, The 'Egypt Youth' corvette was gifted by the government of South Korea to Egypt.
The warship is among a series of acquisitions which are aimed at enhancing the combat and technical efficiency of Egypt's naval forces to deal precisely with enemy targets and helping to bolster the country's national security as well its military ranking.
The Air Force
As for the latest upgrades of the Air Force, a set of multi-function aircraft have joined the Armed Forces air fleet, including the 4th-Generation Dassault Rafale jet fighters, which have been received in accordance with a schedule predetermined within the framework of strategic partnership with France.
The recently purchased aircraft include the Russian combat helicopter Kamov Ka-52 "Alligator", Russian jet fighter Mikoyan MiG-29, F-16C Block 52 aircraft alongside the American all-weather, carrier-capable tactical airborne early warning aircraft Northrop Grumman E-2C Hawkeye.

The Egyptian Air Defense Forces (EADF), the fourth force which is termed “Sky Fortress”, has observed an all-out and considerable development that incorporates radars of diverse ranges and purposes, air-control systems, and elements including assorted missiles and artillery, fighter planes, and electronic warfare systems.

Egyptian Armored Corps
Lately, a group of advanced armored personnel carriers joined the Armed Forces to support the combat efficiency of its members in carrying out their missions, particularly in war against terror.
The world rank of Egypt’s military tank value has jumped to the fourth place instead of the 14th one, reflecting success of the leadership in renovating this key military branch.
