Head of the Awqaf Ministry’s religious sector Gaber Tae’a said Saturday that no “mawlid” festivals (Sufi celebrations) will be allowed to be held inside and outside mosques across the nation.

The ban decision comes in light of the preventive health safety measures announced by the government to halt the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, he said.

Tae’a warned that legal action will be taken against any violators.
