Egypt urges UN to step up efforts against human trafficking

Egypt's envoy to the United Nations Mohamed Idris called for stepping up efforts for combating human trafficking crimes.
He made the remarks during his participation in an event organized on the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
The event was organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in tandem with the Group of Friends United against Human Trafficking.
UNODC Executive Director Ghada Wali reviewed the efforts being exerted by the UN for combating human trafficking.
She also tackled the efforts exerted by Egypt in collaboration with the UN organizations, topped by UNODC.
Idris reviewed the intensive efforts exerted by the national coordination committee for combating human trafficking and illegal immigration.
He referred to the regional challenge, including spiraling tension and instability in the region and the crimes committed by the terrorist group, noting that this led to escalating human trafficking.
