Egyptian expats in 124 countries to start voting in Senate elections Sunday

The Senate elections are scheduled to kick off on Sunday for Egyptian expatriates in 124 countries.
Under the National Election Authority (NEA)’s decision no. 44/2020 on regulating the voting process for Egyptian nationals abroad, the Senate elections will be held on Sunday and Monday (August 9 & 10) via sending the Egyptians’ ballots through the mail with a deadline of August 12.
The decision has taken into consideration the restrictions and precautionary measures taken in most countries in light of the coronavirus pandemic, which would hinder the Egyptian voters’ attendance at the embassies’ premises.
Egyptian embassies abroad have accordingly formed sub-committees in 140 electoral centers in 124 countries.
The Foreign Ministry has set up an operations room at the ministry’s headquarters in Cairo to follow up the Senate elections for Egyptian expats.
