Govt: Egypt to require negative COVID-19 test results from non-Egyptian travelers
Saturday، 08 August 2020 - 11:29 AM

The government has started to take a number of measures to maintain the current good level reached as regards combating the spread of coronavirus in Egypt, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said.
In statements to MENA, Saad said the measures include obliging non-Egyptians coming from abroad to present a negative PCR test result certificate for the coronavirus. The test result should be dated within three days prior to the person’s arrival.
The decision does not include Egyptians coming from abroad, nor foreigners arriving at the Red Sea, South Sinai and Marsa Matrouh; since they are the only governorates allowed to receive foreign tourism, he said.
However, it prohibits the transportation of these tourists from the above-mentioned governorates to the rest of Egypt, unless they have a PCR certificate showing a negative result issued no more than 72 hours prior to the journey, he added.
Saad noted that the decision will take effect as of Saturday, August 15 in order to enable tour operators to inform travelers who have already booked tickets to Egypt.
