Health Minister Hala Zayed discussed with her Sudanese counterpart Sara Hassanein means to enhance health cooperation between both countries.
Zayed reiterated that Egypt fully supports Sudan’s health sector, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said on Saturday.
Megahed highlighted that two Egyptian military planes laden with 21 tons of foodstuffs and infant formula on Friday took off from Cairo en route to Sudan under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Egypt also sent another shipment to Sudan on Saturday carrying 325 tons of medications for children, while a medical team including a number of medical consultants, specialists and pharmacists will arrive in Sunday and Monday under Sisi’s initiative to screen one million African citizens for Hepatitis C and treat non-communicable diseases.
The spokesman asserted that such assistance is a strong evidence of Egypt's pioneering role in standing by African nations and keenness to consolidate historical relations with them.
Zayed headed this morning to Khartoum as a member of a high-profile delegation led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on a visit coming in line with Sisi’s directives to promote relations between the two neighboring Arab countries.
