Egyptian, German FMs mull updates of Libyan crisis, Palestinian cause

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Saturday 22/08/2020 made phone talks with his German counterpart Heiko Maas, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Shoukry and Maas tackled the developments of the Palestinian cause and the Libyan crisis.
The two sides welcomed the statements issued by the Libyan House of Representatives and Tripoli-based presidential council on reaching a ceasefire and stopping the military operations nationwide.
They stressed the importance of benefiting from such step to reach a comprehensive political settlement of the Libyan crisis aimed at restoring security and stability, combating terrorist organizations, resolutely countering destructive foreign interventions in Libya, fulfilling the aspirations of the Libyan people and preserving their capabilities.
The two top diplomats also mulled the latest developments regarding the Palestinian cause.
Shoukry stressed the importance of building on the latest developments to preserve the two-state solution and work forward towards enhancing chances of achieving the just peace and desired security, within the framework of restoring legitimate Palestinian rights under the relevant international legitimacy decisions.
