New Alamein City hosts its 1st sports festival

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi pays much attention to encouraging youths to practice sports regularly, noting that the government's development strategy seeks to build human capacities by focusing on improving public education and health.
Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy praised great efforts exerted by all parties involved in the organization of this event.
The festival, organized by the Sports Ministry, includes sports competitions, a cycling race, beach volleyball, beach five-a-side football, speedball and street workout.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli gave the green light Wednesday for kickstarting the first sport event to be held in New Alamein City.
Madbouli said the main aim of organizing such actiivies is delivering a message to Egyptians on the importance of practicing sports for its vital role on keeping people fit, preserving their health and helping them avoid risk of infection with chronic diseases.
He highlighted the great importance President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attaches to sports, along with the president's efforts encouraging youth to continue exercising during the course of their lives.
The event is also meant to lure tourists and serves as a marketing tool for government-backed projects in Alamein city, said the premier.
"The government program implies a projected human-building strategy envisaging revivying sports as well as upgrading the health and education systems," he noted.
The sport festivity started from the opposite of the cabinet's headquarters in the city, with the participation of a number of ministers and youth in a bike race and two soccer matches.
