It is noteworthy that Egypt played a pivotal role in drafting the declaration and conducting negotiations throughout the seventy-fourth session of the General Assembly. Egypt made sure that the vision includes the aspirations of the Arab and African peoples.
Egypt's statement to the meeting was delivered by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, to present the Egyptian vision in this important meeting on the present and future of the United Nations and the international multilateral system.
During the meeting, Sameh Shoukry called on the international community, represented by the United Nations, to work for maintaining the international peace and security, confront attempts to dismantle national states, combat terrorism and the countries that support it with funding and a safe shelter, as well as combat extremism and organized crime.
In his speech at the opening session of the United Nations, Shoukry said, via video conference, that Egypt calls for confronting all countries that support terrorism to achieve their goals.
The Foreign Minister stressed the need for the international community to confront the countries that support terrorism, saying, "Egypt has a vision based on elements, salient of which is the affirmation of the values of solidarity and equality among people, the sovereignty of states over their territories and capabilities, in addition to avoiding polarization, raising the spirit of partnership and respecting the cultural privacy of peoples and societies."
Sameh Shoukry also stressed the need to create a binding mechanism to formulate effective rules to ensure cyber and information security, in addition to maintaining the institutional and organizational structures of international peace and security institutions.
