President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, witnessed this morning the activities of the 32nd Educational Symposium of the Armed Forces, entitled "October 73, a symbol of survival and development" at Al-Manara International Conference Center in the Fifth Settlement, on the occasion of the celebration of the 47th anniversary of the October victory.
Speaker of Parliament Dr. Ali Abdel-Al, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, a number of ministers, senior statesmen, leaders of the Armed Forces, and a number of veteran leaders of the Armed Forces, have attended the symposium.
At the beginning of the celebration, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the glorious October victory and saluted a number of veteran leaders of the Armed Forces.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed that the most important crisis facing Egypt 65 years ago is the lack of awareness. Awareness should be raised with the aim of safeguarding the State and protect new generations from wars that transform public opinion into a tool to destroy the State. These challenges could be prevented through awareness and the correct understanding of the State's crises.
The President indicated that he spoke with many intellectuals in 2011 and the real issue lies in the true understanding of the State’s crises. His Excellency added that when he was the Minister of Defense, he raised this topic frequently during his meetings with the men of the armed forces. He added that he always reiterated the fact that there are huge challenges facing Egypt.
The President noted that the state’s budget must meet the requirements of 100 million Egyptian citizens. In the event of disability, many problems arise in all fields, which are stirred up by the nation’s enemies for demolishing the State on allegation of corruption. We can overcome all the challenges we are facing through work and stability.
The President emphasized that he did not create an illusion to fool the people and that he always dealt with the state problems and the challenges it faces. We will, thanks to God and our solidarity, make a real success because our goal is making reform and achieving people’s interests. We must all be aware of the plans and plots that are being hatched against us and that no one can defeat us with an external war, but there are attempts that seek to threaten the state’s stability. However, as long as we are standing together, no one can defeat us. In 1967, the defeat was cruel, but the key to success was people’s cohesion and resilience that are currently tampered with.
The President added that the essence of the issue is preserving the Egyptian state, which should be taught in schools, universities and military units. President El-Sisi said that those who want to destroy a state use its people as the weapon of destruction. Therefore, he said that he has always emphasized the resilience and stability of the Egyptian state to confront external agendas.
The President added that the fourth and fifth generations of warfare still exist; the public opinion is being provoked to question the ability of its leadership and army in order to undermine the resilience and stability of the state.
President El-Sisi also noted that in 2011, the work on the Nile River began while the State was fragile. The challenge before us is to maintain the stability of the state with its peoples’ awareness.
The President said that we are moving forward with work, thought, effort and dedication to achieve progress in all fields. The education system and health sector in Egypt are being reformed as much as possible. As a result of the significant population increase, the goals have not yet been all met. We have taken one step and have one thousand others left to be taken since our country needs universities, hospitals and roads, he added.
His Excellency also stressed that the achievements made during the past six years in the Egyptian state in all fields equate to 20 continuous years of work and that there is more work to do for another 50 years.
The President made it clear that we are targeted so the people won’t be at ease. Regarding the attempts at reconciliation initiated by the enemies of our country, he said that he would not reconcile with those who destroyed the country and did harm to its people and is seeking to kill and destroy 100 million Egyptians. He said that they have betrayed their country and want to kill its people or make them refugees.
President El-Sisi added that these enemies do not understand the axes of the crises the country is going through. He said that he had been asking them what they would do about the problems facing health, education and housing sectors and the economic crisis. The President swore that they did not come up with a single solution to these problems because they did not understand the challenges facing the State.
The President indicated that he remembers the defeat in 1967 when there was no hope, but thanks to God and the solidarity of the people, victory was achieved.
President El-Sisi clarified that 750 thousand apartments must be built every year to cope with the population increase. Therefore, growth in the countryside must be vertical not horizontal in order to maximize our wealth.
The President paid tribute and expressed his appreciation to the armed forces and its men. The army in 1967 endured pain, worked hard, offered the blood of martyrs, and achieved victory. The army exerts efforts today on two axes: confronting hostilities on all directions and contributing to the development of the state, the President added.
The President lauded the presentation made by the Prime Minister, in which he presented the history of Egypt. The President assured that today we are working to repair the damage from which the country has been suffering over the past 150 years.
