1st round of parliamentary elections kicks off in 14 governorates

Voting for 33 million eligible voters in the first phase of the 2020 House of Representatives elections kicked off Saturday 24/10/2020 in 14 governorates.
The polling stations started to receive voters as of 9 am till 9 pm, including a break for an hour between 3-4 pm, while the voting process of Egyptians oversees continues.
The 2020 house elections are being held amid tightened anti-coronavirus precautionary measures with polling places nationwide got disinfected.
The first stage of the elections sees 1,879 individual candidates competing for seats in 71 districts as well four coalition lists.
The 14 governorates which vote in the first stage are Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, El Wadi El Gedid, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira and Marsa Matrouh.
National Election Authority (NEA), under its head Counselor Lasheen Ibrahim, has dedicated the hotline 19826 for receiving questions and complaints regarding the elections.
Also, the NEA has formed an operation room at its premises to follow up the voting and counting processes and report complaints.
