Egypt's Permanent Representative to the UN in New York Ambassador Mohamed Idris affirmed the country's support to international multilateral action within the framework of the UN's goals and principles.
Speaking before the UN General Assembly Sixth Committee, which is concerned with legal affairs, Idris highlighted Egypt's key role in drafting the Declaration on Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Cooperation among States which was adopted in 1970.
Idris asserted Egypt's commitment to cooperating with all countries to continue efforts to activate and develop these principles in a way that goes in line with the renewed and increasing challenges facing the mankind in the 21st century.
Egypt had played a key role in the meetings of the committee that was responsible for drafting the Declaration on Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Cooperation among States during the period from 1964 to 1969 through the country's prominent diplomatic and legal figure ambassador Abdel Raouf El-Reedy, he said.
