Egypt, Kenya trade exchange reaches $303mn in 1st half of 2020

Head of the Egyptian commercial office in Nairobi Khaled Mansour said that despite Covid-19 repercussions for world trade, the trade exchange between Egypt and Kenya increased by 4.5 percent in the first six months of 2020 to reach 303 million dollars compared with 290 million in the same period last year.

In his speech during an online seminar organized by Alexandria Chamber of Commerce under the rubric “reviewing the national strategy towards Africa”, Mansour said that Egypt’s exports to Kenya increased to 202 million dollars in the first six months of 2020 up from 193 million in the same period last year.
He added that Egypt’s imports from Kenya reached 99 million dollars this year up from 97 million in 2019.
The most important Egyptian exports to Kenya include sugar, cement, soap, diapers, pasta and appliances, while Kenya’s most important exports to Egypt include tea and other agriculture crops.
