Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi has lauded Egypt's cooperation with the United Nations children's agency UNICEF in implementing a number of programs, including Sport for Development (S4D) and Meshwary projects.
Those projects aim to train the youth, improve their skills, and enable girls, mainly in Upper Egypt, to play sports, Sobhi said during a ceremony held at the Olympic Center for Training National Teams in Cairo; to mark the World Children's Day.
During the ceremony, the sports ministry and UNICEF agreed to develop a strategy for sport development programs, the minister said.
Meanwhile, UNICEF Representative in Egypt Jeremy Hopkins said, “On the occasion of the World Children’s Day celebrations, we come together to recommit to work towards children rights and children wellbeing.”
“It’s crucial for UNICEF to support the children and youth’s right to life, survival and development, to empower them and encourage their participation and voices,” he added.
