A 86th-minute strike led Egypt's Al Ahly to beat their Cairo rivals Zamalek 2-1 Friday to clinch their ninth African Champions League title.

The eight-time record champions secured a dream start when Amr El-Sulaya hit the net with a fine header in the near post as early as five minutes. But veteran Zamalek captain Mahmoud Abdel Raziq (Shikabala) struck a blinding shot to score a superb equalizer for 1-1 in the 30the minute.

Zamalek came the closest to taking the lead in the second half. However, it was Ahly who snatched the game just four minutes before the final whistle with a fine volley by Mohamed Magdy "Afsha" into the bottom left corner.

Al Ahly will now progress to the delayed FIFA Club World Cup which is now set to be staged next February.
