Chairman of Al Ahly Sports Club Mahmoud el Khateeb has thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and all state institutions for their most appreciated efforts in organizing the final match of the CAF championship that took place in Egypt on Friday.

The game against rival Zamalek Sports Club reflected a civilized image of Egypt, despite mounting pressure ahead of the encounter, Khateeb said in a statement Sunday.
He also paid tribute to policemen and the military for securing the all-Egypt final.
A big thank you goes to the teams of Al Ahly and Zamalek as well, Khateeb said, noting that they had exerted utmost efforts to the CAF final, which was guaranteed by Egypt regardless of who the winner was.
It is important that the relationship between elements of the sports system in Egypt be based on mutual respect, Khateeb said, categorically rejecting any insults to any of those elements; whether players, coaches or officials.
Sport has always been a means of convergence and tolerance, he reminded, stressing that winning or losing a championship is not the end of the world.
Khateeb urged fans of the different Egyptian clubs to please turn the page of previous insults and start a new one of unity to help achieve aspirations of their country.
He once again congratulated Al Ahly members and fans on winning the CAF championship.
