Palestinian Cause is always priority in Egyptian Politics: Sisi

President Abdel Fatah El Sisi received on Monday Nov 30,2020 his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas in Itihadeya Palace to discuss the recent updates of the Palestinian Cause and the peace process in the Middle East.
President Sisi reiterated that the Palestinian Cause will always remain a priority in Egyptian politics asserting Egypt's stance on the cause, and its full backing to the Palestinian stances and choices with regard to the aspired political settlement.
The president added that Egypt will continue to deploy efforts for the Palestinian people to restore its legitimate rights in accordance with the fundamentals of international legitimacy. Sisi also stressed that the current stage requires the intertwining and intensification of all Arab efforts for peace talks to resume.
On his part, President Abbas commended Egypt on its positions and role in supporting the Palestinian people’s rights to freedom and independence as well as on its ongoing quest for achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
Both leaders agreed on persistent consultation and coordination with the aim of paving the way for negotiations to recommence.
The meeting touched upon the Egyptian efforts made to maintain the calm situation in Gaza Strip, and achieve reconciliation among Palestinian factions. The Egyptian president expressed eagerness for improvement in the living, economic, and humanitarian conditions in the strip.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry; Chief of General Intelligence Directorate Abbas Kamel; his Palestinian counterpart Maged Farag; Chairman of the Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs Hussein al-Sheikh; and, Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo Diab al-Louh.
