Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed has said the new coronavirus vaccine would be distributed for free across Egypt as per President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives.
Addressing a press conference at Cairo International Airport after receiving the first batch of a Chinese coronavirus vaccine, Zayed said a website has been launched for reserving doses of the new vaccine.
The batch that has just arrived in Egypt is part of several successive shipments of the vaccine that are due to be sent to the country in the coming stage, she said.
The minister added that Egypt has contracted with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI) for receiving more vaccines.
Zayed received on Thursday the first batch of the coronavirus vaccine developed by Chinese state-owned pharmaceutical giant Sinopharm, coming from the United Arab Emirates.
