Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad has announced that the board of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency has unanimously approved - in its 55th meeting - the new mechanism for financial assessment of the environmental damage resulting from accidents led to the destruction of natural resources in natural reserves.
The move is meant to put an end to environmental violations, Fouad said in statements on Saturday 19/12/2020.
Fouad added her ministry is exerting strenuous efforts to achieve a qualitative leap in preserving the natural resources of the natural reserves and developing their management in accordance with international systems with the view to achieving environmental sustainability.
The mechanism protects the natural resources and implements the ministry's plan to establish an integrated management of land and sea resources at the different reserves, the minister noted.
It also aims at achieving environmental justice, enforcing law, punishing violators and economic loss compensation as a result of destruction operations, she said.
