Sisi announces start of 27th World Men's Handball Championship

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced on Wednesday 13/1/2021 the opening of the 27th World Men's Handball Championship, due to run from Jan 13 through 31.
Delivering a speech at the tournament's opening ceremony at the handball court of Cairo International Stadium, Sisi welcomed Egypt's guests at the largest international handball gathering.
The world has become able to coexist with the new reality imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, the president said, expressing hope that Egypt would overcome such an ordeal.
The opening ceremony witnessed a display of the participants’ flags, followed by a Canadian artistic team performance.
Egyptian megastar Tamer Hosni, joined by singers Marawan Mousa and Houda El- Sherbini, performed the official song of the World Championship.
Egypt is the first country to host such major international event in the shadow of coronavirus pandemic.
Egypt host the World Championship from 13 to 31 January 2021 with 32 teams participating for the first time in the tournament's history.
The LOC of the World Championship applies strict precautionary measures while organising the tournament starting from the "quarantine" medical bubble system for all particpants to ensure their safety during the coronavirus pandemic.
