Sisi: Implementation of amendment to real estate law postponed for at least two years
Tuesday، 02 March 2021 - 11:02 AM

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has been briefed on the efforts made to facilitate procedures for citizens as regards property registration, directing the officials concerned to postpone the implementation of law no. 186/2020, which amends the Real Estate Registration Law, for a transitional period of not less than two years.
The move was taken during President Sisi’s meeting on Monday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Omar Marwan.
The postponement comes with a view to providing the opportunity and time for a community dialogue, with the government preparing a bill that goes in line with that delay, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
President Sisi also ordered the government that a fixed, reduced and clear fee be collected for property registration during that transitional period according to the type of property and its location.
Those fees shall replace the current Real Estate Disposal Tax, the spokesman noted.
The meeting also touched on the government efforts to upgrade the public notary system, he said.
The meeting reviewed the outcome of linking courts with police facilities as regards considering the extension of custody remotely, with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directing the officials concerned to expand the application of this system and generalize it to other governorates in the coming stage.
Sisi said this system goes in line with the efforts made to develop the headquarters of courts nationwide.
In the same regard, President Sisi directed the government to consider the establishment of a city for justice in the New Administrative Capital; to include a central complex for courts, a center for studies, and other related service facilities.
