Health and Population Minister Hala Zayed said Egypt received early Saturday 20/03/2021 an additional 300,000 doses of Chinese coronavirus vaccine Sinopharm.
Heath Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said this vaccine shipment is a gift from China to Egypt, noting that this falls within the framework of deeply-rooted ties between the two sides.
He noted that the shipment will be tested in Egyptian labs ahead of vaccinating medics, elderly people and people suffering from chronic diseases.
The vaccine will be available at 40 health units nationwide, he said, underlining the importance of registration for getting the jab either on the ministry’s website or at health units and hospitals.
The Chinese vaccine was approved by the Egyptian Drug Authority as it proved effective by 86 percent for protection of coronavirus and 99 percent for producing anti-bodies and 100 percent for protection from reaching mild or severe conditions.
In February, Egypt received 300,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine also as a gift from China.
