Migration Minister Nabila Makram hailed cooperation among state institutions and the official bodies concerned in confronting illegal migration.
The Egyptian state exerted great efforts to face up illegal migration and these efforts were crowned by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's declaration to prevent any illegal migration boat from sailing from Egypt since September 2016.
Makram made the remarks during a meeting with Social Solidarity Minister Niveen Qabbaj, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Migration Affairs Niveen Huseini and Minister Plenipotentiary of the European Union Commission in Egypt Ibrahim el Afia, according to a statement by her ministry.
During the meeting, it was agreed to form a mini-technical committee among the ministries of migration, foreign affairs and social solidarity and the EU to review technical details concerning the return and reintegration program for migrants to go in accordance with the national agenda while taking into consideration other countries' successful experiments in this respect.
What to be agreed upon at the committee will be a joint action document which will be considered as a roadmap for applying the program, the statement said
The migration ministry is keen on coordination with the ministries concerned, state institutions and civil community to secure safe alternatives to illegal migration, it asserted.
These alternatives include offering support to youths through training programs and soft loans, it added.
