Under the patronage of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and under the slogan "A New Egypt... A New Future", along with the support of the ministries of culture, youth, and sports, and the Tourism Promotion Authority, the events of the third edition of Cairo International Forum for University Theater are held under the chairmanship of the director Amr during the period from 24 Until October 30, 2021 at the National Museum of Civilization.

The Forum witnesses the participation of many Egyptian universities in addition to 24 countries from Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America, including 12 theatrical performances, of which 10 performances are participating in the official competition of the forum.

The Forum’s edition this year bears the name of the late artist Samir Ghanem. Also, the Forum ceremony, which is inaugurated by Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, witnessed the attendance of the third edition’s board, which includes Chairman Hossam Badrawi, director Amr Kabil, artist Samira Abdel-Aziz, novelist Doha Assy, head of the Theatre Department at the American University in Cairo Dina Amin, and Vice Dean of the Higher Institute of Folklore Samar Said.

This year, the festival honors a group of artists and stars, headed by the late artist Samir Ghanem, artist Salah Abdullah, artist Sherine, artist Fathi Abdel Wahab, director Tamer Karam, and Emirati writer Abdullah Masoud.

Competitions

The Forum's competitions this year also include the Mahmoud Nassim Competition for theatrical writing, the Hazem Azmy Competition for theater criticism, in addition to a set of seminars within the intellectual framework of the forum.

The Jury

The Jury of the theatrical performance competition consists of the star Jamal Suleiman from Syria, the artist Wafaa Al-Hakim from Egypt, Sami Al-Zahrani from Saudi Arabia, and Shadia Zaitoun from Lebanon.

It is worth mentioning that in October 2018, the first edition of the Cairo International Forum for University Theater was launched under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. It was the first event of its kind in Egypt that sheds light on a strong artistic sector that is an essential tributary of art and culture in any society, which is the university theater. This is to provide an opportunity for many Egyptian and international university students, artists and researchers in the field of university theater to shine, discuss, train, and develop their artistic abilities through exposure to different cultures and learn about the artistic creations of others.
