Unprecedented support from Sisi to Egyptian women

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli lauded the distinguished cooperation with UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), pointing out to the unprecedented support from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to the Egyptian women that was reflected by the measures taken by the Egyptian state.
Madbouli said that the measures include the constitutional amendments done to increase women's representation in the parliament which reached to 25% of the parliamentary seats in addition to their representation in the government which is also 25%.
This came during Madbouli’s meeting with Executive Director of the UN Women Sima Bahous that was attended by Planning Minister Hala el Saeed.
Madbouli shed light on the programs and the initiatives launched by the state to empower women economically including the divorced, widows and breadwinning women and provide means of support to help them to establish projects in addition to facilitating getting financial credit for them and the presidential initiative “Decent Life” which includes several programs that empower women in the countryside.
Madbouli said that the state took legitimate and procedural steps to limit violence against women including harassment of women.
For her part, Bahous thanked Egypt for its achievements in the field of women empowerment and thanked President Sisi for his continuous support to women in all the different fields.
She also lauded Egypt's efforts to empower women, asserting the necessity to share Egypt's experiment regionally and internationally.
Meanwhile, Saeed reviewed the efforts exerted to empower the Egyptian women as part of 2030 strategy which agrees with the goals of UN sustainable development.
