91,000 people visited Cairo int’l book fair in its first day

As many as 91,000 people visited the Cairo International Book Fair in its first day, Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem said.

In press statements, Abdel Dayem added that this number expresses a serious desire to receive knowledge and reflects great societal awareness in Egypt.

The fair’s electronic platform has received major interaction, the minister said, noting that the experience has proven successful since its launch in the previous edition as one of the digital transformation steps taken by the international event.

Organized under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the fair's 53rd edition is held under the theme "Egypt's Identity – Culture & the Question of the Future".

A total of 1,063 Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishers from 51 countries are taking part in this year's edition, which will run until February 7.

Greece was chosen as the event's guest of honor.
