President's Activities during March 2022

President's meetings with officials

On March 5, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly,  and a number of ministers. The meeting dealt with following up  the work of the Higher Ministerial Committee to prepare for Egypt’s hosting of the COP27 next November in Sharm El-Sheikh. The President directed to provide all the necessary financial resources to equip the city of Sharm El-Sheikh at the highest level, and called on the concerned authorities to strengthen their efforts to host and direct this global event in a way that reflects Egypt’s regional and international status.

On March 13, 2022, President Abd El- Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and a number of ministers and senior officials. The meeting reviewed the executive position of a number of national projects in the food security and agriculture sector all over the Republic, the executive position of some strategic crops, especially wheat with the approaching local harvest season, and efforts to increase its productivity within the framework of the state's policy of horizontal expansion in agricultural lands, and vertical expansion in wheat quality and quantity using the best types of seeds, modern irrigation methods and agricultural mechanization.

On March 15, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Zaki, minister of defense and military production, Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of Interior, and Major General Abbas Kamel, Egypt's intelligence chief . The meeting dealt with following up on the provision of strategic stocks of all basic food commodities, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.

On March 19, 2022, President Abd El- Fattah El-Sisi met with Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Urban Planning, Major General Ihab El Far, head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, and a number of senior officials. The meeting dealt with following up the executive position of the engineering authority projects all over the Republic. The president directed to focus on having the ability to localize industry and technology in the fields of the construction sector and infrastructure, because of its direct impact on implementation rates, and the comprehensive development process witnessed by the country.

On March 20, 2022, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and a number of ministers and senior officials. The meeting reviewed the draft budget for the next fiscal year 2022-2023.

On March 27, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, prime minister, and Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. The meeting focused on the follow-up of the activities of the petroleum sector, especially in the field of research and exploration for oil and natural gas. The President directed to continue developing the state’s efforts to achieve the optimal economic benefit from Egypt’s resources of oil and natural gas. The president also called for the completion of various industrial projects in the petroleum sector with the aim of reducing imports and providing high-quality petroleum products, in addition to maximizing the added value of petroleum raw materials and meeting the needs of the local market in various cities and governorates all over the Republic.

Field Tours  

On March 2, 2022, President Abd El- Fattah El-Sisi witnessed the opening of a number of housing projects, including the two housing projects, Sakan Misr and Ganna  housing project in the 6th of October City, as part of a number of development projects, including roads, new axes, and youth and sports projects.

On March 4, 2022, President Abd El- Fattah El-Sisi inspected the construction works of a number of roads, axes and industrial works linking east and west Cairo, which come within the framework of the national project to develop the road network in Greater Cairo. The President directed to take into account achieving the greatest extent of expansion in the new roads and axes in Cairo Governorate; to achieve the required traffic liquidity, taking into account the current and future traffic density, with the need to provide all the necessary services for vehicles and citizens. The president also inspected the executive position of the Omar Al-Mukhtar axis in the Mostorod area, an extension of the Adly Mansour axis, as well as the second phase of the development of the Joseph Tito axis.

On March 9, 2022, President El-Sisi participated in the educational symposium of the armed forces on the occasion of the celebration of Martyr's Day, and honored the families of the martyrs.

On March 18, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi made an inspection tour in Old Cairo area and Historical Cairo to follow up the progress of work on a number of national projects, including axes and roads. The president was keen to stop to talk with citizen and families and he  congratulated them on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, inquired about their living conditions, and listened to their demands.

On March 23, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi attended Egyptian Women's Day, and honored exemplary mothers and symbols of Egyptian women.

On March 24, 2022, President Abd El Fattah El-Sisi made an inspection visit to the headquarters of the Police Academy, where he was received by Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq and leaders of the Police Academy. The visit came within the framework of his keenness to follow up the system of preparing and training his sons at the Police Academy.

President's meetings via video conferencing

On March 3, 2022, President Abd El- Fattah El-Sisi held an extensive video conference meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece,  in the presence of the Governor of the Central Bank, the ministers of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Foreign Affairs, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Planning and Economic Development, and International Cooperation; as well as their counterparts on the Greek side, along with the president of the European Investment Bank.

The talks tackled strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the field of cooperation in the energy sector, especially electrical and gas interconnection projects, as well as cooperation in the sectors of climate change, green transformation, green hydrogen and solar energy, in light of Egypt’s hosting of the COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh in next November. The two sides agreed to move forward with the implementation of the agreements signed between them in these sectors, whether in the bilateral framework or through the tripartite cooperation mechanism that brings together Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, as well as within the framework of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union.

Meeting Kings and Heads of State

Receiving the President of the Republic of Tajikistan

On March 10, 2022, President Abd El- Fattah El-Sisi received, at Al-Itehadya Palace, President Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan. During the meeting, the President praised the cultural and historical ties between the two countries. He asserted Egypt's interest in developing bilateral relations with Tajikistan and exchanging experiences with it in various fields to achieve the common interest of the two countries. For his part, the Tajik President expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality.  He also affirmed his country's pride in the distinguished bilateral relations with Egypt, and Tajikistan's interest in benefiting from the giant national projects and the pioneering development experience that Egypt is witnessing under the leadership of President El-Sisi, which enhances its position as a pillar of security and stability at the region.

During the meeting, the two presidents discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries at various levels, especially in the fields of mining, agriculture, water resources, tourism and health. The two presidents also agreed on the importance of investment potentials enjoyed by Egypt and Tajikistan to enhance economic cooperation and trade exchange between them.

They also discussed cooperation in the field of training and technical support programs that Egypt provides to Tajik cadres, as well as receiving students from Tajikistan in Al-Azhar and Egyptian universities.

The two presidents also discussed the most prominent developments of the issues of common interest at the regional and international levels, especially in Ukraine and Afghanistan, as well as ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the field of security and intelligence.

On  March 25, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met in Aqaba with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, King of Jordan, His Highness Shaikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations between the four countries in all fields, especially trade and economics. They also exchanged views and visions on the overall political and economic situation at the regional and international levels, especially with regard to facing the repercussions and effects of the current global conditions on the sectors of food security, energy, and trade

Receiving the President of the Republic of Rwanda

On March 26, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received President Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda. The meeting witnessed several individual talks, which were followed by expanded discussions between the delegations of the two countries. The President welcomed his brother President Kagame to Egypt and His Excellency expressed appreciation for the joint historical relations between the two brotherly countries, stressing Egypt's keenness to consolidate strategic cooperation with Rwanda in various fields, especially at the economic, commercial, security and military levels. They also discussed strengthening coordination, consultation and exchanging views between the two sides in the framework of the African Union.

President Kagame also expressed his country's great appreciation for its long and distinguished historical relations with Egypt, stressing Rwanda's keenness to develop these relations in various fields, especially trade and economic cooperation. In addition, he expressed his country's interest in maximizing the technical support provided by Egypt to Rwandan cadres in the areas of capacity building, as well as obtaining the support of Egyptian companies working in the field of infrastructure, especially in light of the ambitious development agenda that Rwanda seeks to implement.

The Rwandan president also praised the pivotal role played by Egypt regionally to maintain peace and security.

The Spokesman added that the meeting dealt with discussions on the latest regional developments of mutual interest, especially with regard to the issue of the Renaissance Dam. He added that they agreed to intensify coordination between the two countries during the coming period on this sensitive and vital issue. Moreover, the President stressed in this regard the need to reach a binding legal agreement on filling and operating the Renaissance Dam within an appropriate time frame, in a manner that enhances regional security and stability, based on the rules of International law and Security Council resolutions.

Meeting foreign officials

On March 12, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Philip Lazzarini, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees UNRWA, in the presence of Sameh Shoukry, minister of foreign affairs, and Major General Abbas Kamel, cheif of General Intelligence.

The President welcomed the visit of the UNRWA Commissioner, affirming Egypt's absolute support for the agency to continue to play its role in providing basic and necessary services to Palestinian refugees.

For his part, Lazzarini expressed his honor to meet the President. He reviewed the role of UNRWA, and the current challenges it faces in light of the worsening situation at the regional and global levels. He stressed UNRWA's reliance on Egypt's historical and appreciated role in mobilizing the international community's support for the agency to continue its role in supporting Palestinian refugees.

The UNRWA Commissioner also praised the high priority that Egypt attaches to the file of improving conditions in the Palestinian territories, especially the Gaza Strip, which is reflected in the accelerated steps taken to enhance the ongoing efforts to rebuild the Strip within the framework of the Egyptian initiative to allocate $500 million for this purpose.

On March 12, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, in the presence of Mr. Sameh Shoukry, minister of foreign affairs, and Dr. Yasmine Fouad, minister of environment.

The President affirmed Egypt’s appreciation for the fruitful and growing cooperation with the United Nations regarding the issue of climate change and its effects on the world.  

For her part, Espinosa expressed her honor to meet the President, and her aspiration that the next summit that will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh will be a landmark summit on the issue of climate change, praising in this context the relevant historical positions of Egypt.

On March 20, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Cardinal Marbetrus Al-Rahi, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East for the Maronites. During the meeting, the president asserted his appreciation to the deep and strong relations between Egypt and Lebanon on the public and official levels, and Egypt keenness to maintain security and stability of Lebanon and achieve Lebanese national interests.

For his part,  Cardinal Marpeters expressed his honor to meet the President. He affirmed Lebanon's keenness to strengthen the strong historical relations between the two brotherly countries, which are based on the foundations of solidarity and brotherhood. He also expressed his country's appreciation for the Egyptian effort in supporting Lebanon in all fields, as well as considering it a pivotal pillar and a basic guarantor for maintaining stability in Lebanon and the entire Arab region.

On March 21, 2022 President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received in Sharm El Sheikh, His Highness Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces; where they held an expanded session of talks in the presence of the delegations of the two countries. During the meeting, the President stressed Egypt's pride in the historical ties that unite the two brotherly countries and peoples, and Egypt's keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the UAE in various fields.

 For his part, His Highness Shaikh Muhammad bin Zayed expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm reception. He praised the sincere and close Egyptian-Emirati relations, stressing that his current visit to Egypt is a continuation of the historical and distinguished relations that bind the two countries, government and people.

On March 22, 2022, President Abd El- Fattah El-Sisi met, in Sharm El-Sheikh, His Highness Shaikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Prime Minister of Israel Naftali Bennett. The meeting discussed the repercussions of global developments, especially with regard to energy, market stability, and food security. They also exchanged views on the latest developments in a number of international and regional issues.

On March 28, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Bruno Le Maire, french minister of economy and finance, , in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, prime minister, Dr. Muhammad Maait, minister of finance, Dr. Amr Talaat, minister of communications and information technology, and Mrs. Nevin Gamea, minister of trade and industry.

On March 29, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Shaikh Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani,  in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry,  Chief of General Intelligence Major General Abbas Kamel, and Minister of Finance of Qatar Ali bin Ahmad Al-Kuwari,  Head of Qatar’s State Security Abdullah Al-Khulaifi, and Qatar’s Ambassador to Cairo Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi,.

The President welcomed the visit of the Qatari Foreign Minister to Cairo. He asked His Excellency to convey his greetings to his brother, His Highness Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, appreciating the tangible progress in the course of Egyptian-Qatari relations, which would serve the goals and interests of the two countries and peoples, and enhance efforts to maintain security and stability in the Arab region.

For his part,  Shaikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani expressed his honor to meet the President, conveying to the President the greetings of His Highness Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his keenness to consolidate the close brotherly relations between the two countries in a way that enhances security and stability in the region.

On March 30, 2022 President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Lieutenant-General Abd El-Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council. The two sides reviewed the overall bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. They expressed their satisfaction for the level of coordination existing between the two sides, while emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic relations and increasing trade exchange in a way that amounts to the existing momentum in the political relations and historical ties that unite the two brotherly peoples of the Nile Valley. Moreover, they discussed ways to maximize efforts to achieve agricultural integration and electric linkage between the two countries, as well as deepening joint cooperation at the security and military levels, in a way that contributes to achieving the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples.

They also discussed the affairs of the Sudanese community in the Arab Republic of Egypt. In this context, the Sudanese side expressed appreciation for the generous care it receives, while the Egyptian side affirmed the permanent welcome of the Sudanese community in their second country, Egypt.

Foreign visits

President's visit to Saudi Arabia

On March 8, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met, in Riyadh, with His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.

At the beginning of the talks, Prince Muhammad bin Salman welcomed the president's visit, expressing Saudi Arabia's appreciation for Egypt's leadership and people, and praised the sincere brotherhood and close historical relations that characterize the Egyptian-Saudi relations. His Highness the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia also praised Egypt's pivotal role in supporting the security and stability of Arab countries and its estimated efforts to promote joint Arab action at all levels. He affirmed Saudi Arabia's aspiration to continue advancing the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, especially at the economic, investment and development levels.

For his part, the President expressed his happiness to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing Egypt's pride in the historical ties that unite the two brotherly countries and peoples, and Egypt's appreciation, at the official and popular levels, for Saudi positions in support of the will of the Egyptian people and their development efforts.

The President also affirmed Egypt's interest in enhancing continuous communication between the two brotherly countries through mutual visits, and ensured that these visits represent an impetus for increasing cooperation and coordination between the Egyptian and Saudi sides.
