Speech by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the 40th Anniversary of Sinai Liberation Day

Tuesday، 26 April 2022 - 12:51 PM

The great people of Egypt, dear honorable people,

I address you, today, on the 40th anniversary of the liberation of beloved Sinai- that precious spot of the homeland for which all Egyptians, generation after generation, hold everlasting appreciation in their hearts. They look at it as the jewel of Egypt’s crown and this nation’s source of honor and pride, as the only land that witnessed the transfiguration of the divine.
It is the spot that Allah, the Most Glorified, the Most Exalted, has chosen for the revelation of the first divine messages. Its religious and historical status is unrivalled and its unique geographic location has drawn eyes to it throughout different ages for it is the meeting point of the continents of the ancient world and the link between the east and west.

The great people of Egypt,

The 25th of April will forever remain embedded in the memory of our nation, revered for embodying the willpower and determination, and asserted by generations that realized the value of belonging to the nation and offered themselves to defend its soil. Victory flags flew high in the sky of pride and national dignity. A salute to everyone who contributed to restoring this sacred land, returning it to the embrace of the motherland, Egypt.

A salute to Egypt’s unforgettable martyrs, who sacrificed soul and blood for the nation to continue standing tall and free. A salute to the men of Egyptian diplomacy, who underwent the battle to negotiate, with much patience and stamina, to restore this beloved land. A salute to the soul of late President Mohammed Anwar El-Sadat, who took the decisions of both war and peace, chivalrously steered by the vision of the leader; a leader who sought to provide a safe environment and stability for his people and all peace-loving peoples, until we fully restored our land, starting a new phase of construction in dear Sinai to serve as the first line of defense. You probably have a sense of the scope of projects spread across it, seeking its development, utilizing its resources and achieving prosperity for the people of dear Sinai.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The Sinai liberation celebrations coincide with many religious and national occasions, for example the passing of 50 hijri years commemorating the 10th of Ramadan victory, which paved the way for restoring this blessed spot of Egypt’s land. It also coincides with Easter, celebrated by Christians, and I would like to seize this opportunity to greet them on this occasion. It also coincides with the end of the Holy month of Ramadan and the advent of Eid el Fitr, wishing both the Arab and Islamic nations many happy returns and blessings.

The great people of Egypt,

In light of the extremely complex regional and international situation, maximizing the capabilities of the state’s comprehensive powers comes at the top of the Egyptian State’s priorities, envisioning the future with a deep understanding of events and international developments. It has, therefore, become certain that who wants peace must possess the necessary power capable of protecting it.

Therefore, I extend my salutation and appreciation to the men of Egypt’s Armed Forces, who are stationed in every inch of the homeland. Those who wake up every morning, renewing the pledge of loyalty to Allah and the homeland, always prepared to defend the nation that has fully entrusted them and their ability to safeguard it.

As much attention is given to our military capability, we are also moving, in tandem, to elevate the rest of the state’s comprehensive capabilities; the most important of which is its economic capacity. We aspire to establish a robust national economy, capable of facing various crises. One that can help us achieve high growth rates that can provide many job opportunities for our promising youth, who are seeking to fulfill their dreams and map the future.

As I conclude my speech, I ask Allah Almighty to keep bestowing the blessings of security and stability upon us and to preserve Egypt and its people from all harm.

I wish the people of Egypt wellness, strength, resolve and progress.

Always and forever, long live Egypt, long live Egypt, long live Egypt.

Peace Be Upon You.
