Transport Minister inspects metro, train stations

Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir inspected Friday 06/05/2022 the Shuhada interchange metro station to follow up on the regularity of operation schedules.

During the tour, the minister ordered additional trains to be immediately operated when needed to reduce any possible overcrowding, especially during peak hours.

Wazir boarded a train to Shubra El-Kheima station, where he discussed with passengers giant projects that the Egyptian government is implementing in the field of the metro and electric traction.

The political leadership directed the rehabilitation and expansion of the metro network, with the establishment of a giant transportation network of environmentally-friendly electric traction means, the minister said.

The first metro line will be developed to reduce the average waiting time to 2.5 instead of 4.5 minutes, he added.

Wazir then inspected Shubra El-Kheima train station to follow up on the service level at the railway facility, with the end of the Eidul Fitr holiday and the regularity of work in the government and private sectors.
