The Political leadership is keen to become Africa's voice at the COP 27, to be hosted by Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh in November, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi told a World Bank delegation Saturday 25/06/2022.
Africa faces many challenges in the climate change file, and Egypt is willing to share its experiences with the continent and cooperate with the World Bank to prepare a guideline in this regard as part of the Egyptian government's preparations for the summit, he added.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the local development program in Upper Egypt with regard to the industry component, enhancing competitiveness and supporting economic blocs in the governorates of Sohag and Qena.
The participants also reviewed developments of the local planning component, improving the quality of public services and developing local self-resources.
Shaarawi stressed the ministry's interest in achieving financial decentralization and enabling governorates to manage their financial and economic affairs and developing local revenues.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ordered the dissemination of the local development program in Upper Egypt as a model for integrated local development in all Upper Egypt governorates during the next three years, he added.
