The Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) is closely following up on the results of complains of the emission of gasoline-like odor in one of the areas in east of Cairo, said the EEAA Chief Ali Abo Sena.
The EEAA has made a surprise inspection to Cairo Petroleum Refining Company and Petroleum Pipelines Company (PPC), as part of efforts to follow up on the results of the complaint filed by a number of residents in east of Cairo, he added.
An expanded meeting was held with the representatives of the two companies, in the presence of representatives from the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation to set a timeframe to resolve this issue, he further said.
The move came in line of directives issued by Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad to consider all the environmental-related complaints and inspect all the sources that cause pollution to environment, he added.
