Transport Minister follows up on progress of 1st line of express electric train

Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir asserted that the express electric train project represents an epic venture implemented by major Egyptian companies.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed to launch the first line of the express train (Ain Sokhna/Alamein/Matrouh /Fayyoum) on November 7.
Wazir made the remarks on Saturday while inspecting the progress realized so far in building the first line of the express train.
The minister and workers in the project extended greetings to President Sisi on the New Hijri Year, pledging to work around the clock to finalize the project in line with the set timetable.
He underlined that the project is one of the pillars of the express electric train network which will mark a new civilizational leap in means of transportation in Egypt.
Negotiations are under way with Siemens company to start sending the first of trains to be operated on the country’s express electric railway service by mid-2023 in order to launch the project.
The first line of the project is 660 kilometer long and includes 22 stations. It will transfer about one million commuters daily.
