Environment, tourism ministers discuss preparations for COP27

Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad discussed with newly-appointed Tourism and Antiquities Minister Ahmed Issa preparations for COP27 Conference, which will be held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh in November.
During the meeting, Fouad voiced appreciation for the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry for its continued efforts in supporting ecotourism.
She also highlighted the part the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry contributed toward organizing the COP27 conference.
Fouad further congratulated Issa for assuming the position of Tourism and Antiquities Minister.
The minister also extended thanks to former Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anani for his efforts with her ministry to support sustainable tourism strategy.
Issa, for his part, said that the ongoing fruitful cooperation will continue between the two ministries in order to enhance Egypt's tourism competitiveness internationally.
The two ministers also followed up on preparations of hotel and tourist establishments in Sharm El Sheikh to ensure the city’s hospitality sector’s readiness before the anticipated climate conference.
During the meeting, the two ministers said that 132 hotels in Sharm El Sheikh have already obtained a certificate stating the application of green practices.
